This week I chose 2 Nephi 19:2 because I loved the imagery of being illuminated by Christ, his atonement, and his gospel, the way the people in the verse are described to. It shows Christ as a beacon of hope and faith.
In this verse, Isaiah is describing the birth of Christ and the effect it will have on the people. He says that those who were previously in darkness, will be in light because of the Savior. It’s in the context of the birth of Christ, however, I think it is supposed to be more about the fact that Christ came to Earth more than a child being born. It wasn’t the day Christ was born that we could have light, but rather because he was born we have the light of his gospel.
Because Christ was born ever, I can repent for my sins and receive all the blessings of Christ’s atonement including the opportunity to live with God again, but so can everyone throughout all space and time. Christ’s atonement is for me personally as it is for mankind generally.
I made a portrait of Eliza this week. Eliza really personifies grace and intelligence and generosity and kindness. And I think she’s really beautiful too. She is one of my favorite people in the whole wide world and I love her to the stars and back (at least). It’s hard to fit all that into one picture, but this is what I got.
